Digiteum is looking for a Technical Lead (Python background is required) to work on the projects from Oxford University Press.

OUP is the largest university press in the world. They are licensing text data, publishing dictionaries and work with such brands as Microsoft, Zynga, Google, Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble. Together with Digietum, OUP has created a new corpus on English language and is going to scale to other languages as well. Technical lead will participate in various digital projects including Corpus project and Morphological Analysers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure team delivers robust systems to support business requirements.
  • Respond to user requirements, analyze alternatives and provide product recommendations relating to software and platform.
  • Conduct the architectural evaluation, design and analysis of systems such as the conversion pipeline built by Digiteum.
  • Collaborate closely with Digiteum and OUP in-house teams – both technical and non-technical specialists. Bridge the gaps between Digiteum teams and OUP.
  • Collaborate with OUP in-house teams to ensure architectural solutions can be successfully implemented.
  • Prepare and present technical and process information, e.g. requirements analyses, architectural designs, test and deployment plans, operational procedures. Clearly communicate ongoing development and new proposals.
  • Present suggestions for improvement and promote best practices across the business.

Requirements

  • Experience in designing and delivering large-scale robust systems and pipelines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve the best solution for all stakeholders.
  • Experience of DevOps approaches and automating system build, test and deployment.
  • Considerable experience with Python or other high-level languages.
  • Experience in data transformation and manipulation (ETL).
  • Experience in delivering systems in Cloud Deployment environments e.g. AWS, Azure.
  • Experience in  Relational and NoSQL database systems and designing the best storage mechanism for a system.
  • Experience with Agile software development methods including strong automated testing.
  • Good written and verbal communication in English (at least upper-intermediate).
